Online portfolios: Products and examples

The objective is to create an online portfolio to show off your creativity

Introduction

An online eportfolio is a Professional Way To Showcase Your Work. Creating one shows you have eessential skills for life in the 21st century.

This page from websitebuilderexpert is a useful comparison of portfolio building platforms. The rest of the site is a bit annoying though (lots of pop-up questions and suggestions)

This site is from websitetooltester and seems to be a pretty thorough comparsion of free website building sites though is not specifically about portfolios.

Here are three ways you could make your online portfolio.

1) Code your portfolio in HTML

A code editor such as Visual Studio code helps you to create correct HTML code.

    2) Use a free web creation and hosting site

    Google Sites

    Google sites is a goto place for making an online portfolio. If you do not already have a google account (if you have an Android phone you probably do already) you can make one and you will almost certainly find is a useful account to have. All features of google sites are free to use so this is another bonus.

    Wix

  • 3) Make it using Microsoft or Adobe App

    HyperText Markup Language is the language for creating websites. For a portfolio make sure the work you are going to link to is in the same folder as your main page. You can create the portfolio in many ways, here are three:

    Microsoft word

    Simply save a word document as a webpage. Though the portfolio is not usually as impressive as other methods of creation, hyperlinking to other work is easy: Made with word

  • Sway

    Sway is limiting in terms of how much you can control the way the portfolio looks but is an easy way to put together a nice flowing portfolio.

  • Good student sway portfolio
  • Dreamweaver

    Dreamweaver allows you to be in full control of how it looks. You can use the Dreamweaver on Remote Apps. Make sure you set up your site root folder: Tutorial from websitesetup
