scra
In this portfolio I will be showing my best work, in CT, from years 7, 8 and 9. I will taalk about the following things:
In Hockerill, one thing you do a lot in CT is coding. In year 7, we did a lot of scratch. You can see some of my scratch projects by clicking the links below:
In years 8 & 9, we did some more advanced coding like turtle and python. To do this, we either used actual pyhton, or replit to code things in the turtle format, to draw things, or normal python, to make games and activities. I did most of my coding work on replit and here is some of it:
All this coding was probably the most difficult part of CT at Hockerill but while it was challenging, it was fun to do and trying out the code at the end was a good reward for the hard work.
In Year 7, after doing a lot of scratch and some other topics in CT, there was a small fun task that we had to do. This task was building Lego Mindstorm robots and programming them to do small tasks. We had to complete a checklist of programs of things we had to make our robot do. It was fun and a good way to end of Year 7.
SpreadSheets (Excel)
In all the years we have been at Hockerill, we have done a bit of spreadsheets on Excel. We first learnt how to use spreadsheets to answer maths questions. Then we learnt how to make tables and filter out certain results. And in year 9, we just refreshed our memories and put it all together. Excel was not the most exciting topic we did but it was useful and we used those skills in a lot of other subjects like Geography and Maths.
HTML
Finally, at the end of year 9, we learnt how to make a website using html which is also what I am making this portfolio on. We learnt how to use the functions (e.g. () and finished our MYP CT at Hockerill with this. It has been fun, and I'm sure I will use many of the skills I have leant in CT later in life for personal things, or things like making a portfolio for a job.
